Minimum IELTS score for most UK universities
Most UK universities require an overall band score of 6.5, with no individual band below 5.5 (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking). This applies to the majority of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across UK institutions.
What if my score is below the requirement?
If you have not reached the required IELTS score, many UK universities offer pre-sessional English courses that let you begin your academic programme once you complete them successfully. This is a common and accepted route for students who are close to the requirement but not quite there.
Other documents you will need alongside IELTS
Along with your IELTS certificate, UK admissions typically require scanned copies of your 10th, 12th, and degree mark lists (for Masters courses), a copy of your passport, a one-page personal statement / statement of purpose, and 2 academic reference letters (one academic and one employer reference for MBA applicants).
Minimum academic eligibility
